You can set a variable from the command line by executing:

homegear -e rc '$hg->setValue(<peer ID>, 1, <variable>, <value>);'

To retrieve the value of a variable, execute:

homegear -e rc 'print_v($hg->getValue(<peer ID>, 1, <variable>));'
